Capturing Our Historical Moment

March 23, 2020  •  2 Comments

What a crazy moment in history we are currently living in! I hope this finds you in good health. My calendar went from virtually full to completely empty. No play dates, no meetings, no unnecessary doctor appointments and especially the most needed right now, NO mama nights out.  However, this inconvenient virus actually was a blessing in disguise. It has given me an opportunity to press pause on our busy-running-around lives and reconnect with each other.

This moment will be our children’s “Well when I went to school I had to walk up a hill both ways during a snow storm,” event of their lives.  This started an idea in my head about capturing this time for them. This very moment will be in the history books and I want to provide a primary source for my kids to be able to show to their children. I started a daily journal, shall we say. I have started an 8x11 shutterfly photo book. I am organizing it by each week.  On one side I journal about what is happening in the news in regards to the virus, but then add what we did as a family. On the other page, I am placing images that capture that week. I will also create a few spreads that capture themes during this time such as: E-learning, game time, outdoor fun, cleaning the house and whatever comes our way during this time.

The images do not need to be fancy or perfect, just capture your life at this moment because this truly will be something we will all reflect on for years to come. If there is anything you need or I can help with please just ask! (I have toilet paper and paper towels!)

Cheers,

Jamielynn and Nick
